ivyette: (Individual)
[personal profile] ivyette
There's this character I've had for years and years- she dates back before even Ivy B. Greenflower- and I've decided to finally let the world know her. I'm changing her name, because the girl I created can't be herself if other people know her. I know that doesn't make sense, but trust me, her new name will work better in the long run. Of course in my head I'll always refer to her by her original name, but her new name- provided you pronounce it correctly :)- will just be better for her. Her new name, in fact, was taken from the name of her future daughter (and will still be the name of said daughter should I ever get that far in writing about her).
Her name is Sara, pronounced Sah-rah- not like the name Sarah. I can't quite describe how to pronounce it actually, but it comes from a name I made up from bits of nonsense Japanese (hence why I changed it- I don't want to use a name that means nothing!) In fact, I'll have to change the names of all of her friends and her boyfriend, because they all came from somewhere else and were not my creations :) However, all of her backstory and her sisters and some of her friends are my own characters so everything will work out.

In her past life, Sara lived in a gigantic celestial palace on the moon with her mother, the beautiful queen, and her father, a kind-hearted but insanely jealous and protective king. Princess Sara lived in a single room on the ground floor of the palace, and she spent much of her days alone. She read books constantly and sat at the window gazing at the gardens she could never go and play in. One day, two boys- sons of palace guards- were playing in the gardens and saw the little princess sitting at the window. They went up to her to ask her to play with them. Sara had never seen people her own age before and was startled by them. She told them she couldn't come outside, so they decided to go inside. They climbed in the window and introduced themselves, and also introduced the princess to all the games they knew how to play. When the sun began to set, they left and promised to come back tomorrow.
The next day, they came back, and brought a friend of theirs. He was a prince in the neighboring kingdom and had never heard of there being a princess who lived in this palace; indeed, no one had ever seen her before. He brought a beautiful pink flower from the gardens as a gift for her. Sara loved the gift, for although she had seen flowers from her window and in pictures in her books, she had never gotten to see a real one up close. She kept it for the rest of her life on the moon (and flowers exactly like it grow in the gardens around present-day Sara's house.) They played with each other every day as they got older, and when they went to school they taught the princess the things they had learned there. They became too old for games anymore and had to learn how to be real members of society- the sons of the palace guards had to become guards themselves, and the prince had to be trained in the army so that he could eventually become king. They saw less and less of each other every day, and soon Sara became as lonely as she had been as a child. The two boys who had become her playmates now had duties and could not leave their posts at the palace gates, and the prince who had given her her first flower was now much too busy to see anyone, let alone a princess who was locked away.
The prince and princess began to write letters back and forth to each other. They began falling in love, although the prince didn't realize it, since he was immensely busy and thought mostly of his new duties. The only time of the day he thought of the princess was when he was answering her letters, delivered to him by one of her palace guards. The palace guards took turns visiting her each afternoon to collect the day's letter and bring it to the prince as quickly as he could, so no one got caught. It wasn't until the prince graudated from the military academy that he got to spend time with the princess herself and not just her letters. It took him awhile, though, to realize that he was falling in love with her, although she knew from the beginning. One day, he saw her face just the right way (in something like moonlight, except not because they're on the moon), and his heart skipped a beat- the first time it had ever done so- and he realized his feelings.
One day the prince had to go to war to protect the two kingdoms, and promised the princess that he would return to her so that they could get married and unite the kingdoms and live happily ever after. However, he died in battle. The news was brought to the princess by her old friends, his very best friends. Her father had also died in that battle and although she could now leave the palace she had no desire to do so; she was so overcome with grief that her mother could not console her. Several months later, dying from her own sadness, Sara begged her mother to let her end her pain. Her mother, however, had different plans for her daughter. Although it would greatly weaken her, she used her own special power to send her daughter and her lover away into space, where they would be reborn and live happily together, without any memory of their past. She sent their two friends with them, making them promise to keep the prince and princess happy. They disappeared into space, and the queen collapsed. She awoke thousands of years later, after the kingdoms had both collapsed and the moon was a desolate wasteland. She summoned her strength and began to rebuild it, not knowing what became of her child...
The prince and princess had landed in the present-day and were born to two different families, in two different galaxies: Sara on Earth, and the prince and his friends on a distant planet.
What I plan to write is the story of how they find each other, how Sara finds her mother, and how they deal with the fact that they have to spend the rest of their lives galaxies apart from each other. The hitch: they're immortal, which I'll explain later, which obviously complicates the "rest of their lives" thing. :)

k tired now.
