So

SO I WENT TO A CONCERTGAME LAST WEEK.

A concertgame means that there is a baseball game, and then they turn off the lights and have a concert. Why? Because the Rays draw about as many people as a dead thing draws vultures, which is to say, about three, maybe four if it's really good. (Then again, the Marlins draw even fewer fans. Watching a Marlins telecast is soul-crushing. You can literally hear individual fans cheering.)

So the Rays devised an ingenious plan: invite popular artists to have concerts at the stadium, and include the concert for free.

I went to one such concert last week (uh, as I've already said sixteen times).

There's not much to say. The game was a nail-biter extra innings affair. I got to see my very favorite pitcher for the first time. The concert was about as amazing as you'd expect Adam to be.

The stage was in the outfield. Seats for the concerts are general admission, which means you can get up and move to a closer seat if you want. We did. Except.

The stage is in the outfield. We were sitting behind home plate. The stage was so far away I literally could not see who was who on it. That was okay, though, because the sound was perfect and the giant stadium screen had all of the action. I took pictures of the screen as best I could, but none are really post-worthy. You all know what Adam and Allison look like. I also got 60 seconds if If I Had You on my phone, because it's my favorite.

Also I remembered that I had binoculars after awhile and watched part of the concert that way, which was funny.

Anyway, if you had told me this time last year that I'd have been so excited about an Adam concert I would have told you you were insane, because I used to hate his voice. I still hate the stuff he did on the show. But at the concert, there was none of the weird whiny stuff, just straight-up angel singing. And Allison was so perfect! I hope a better label snatches her up quick.

Two articles by a Rays fan/blogger about the concert. Good reads.

SO THAT WAS MY ADVENTURE. I am still recovering. It was that awesome of a day. Especially with the wonderful boyfriend. <3

-Kylie released a small snippet of her new single, All The Lovers, the release date of the single, the album title and cover (Aphrodite). The snippet sounds fantastic, the title sounds cool, the album name is gorgeous, the cover art is spectacular. I was so worried I wouldn't like it (some of Kylie's stuff leaves me a bit cold, if you can believe that). Last time I was this anxious about an album release I was thoroughly disappointed (I've never mentioned it before, but I never really liked Kris's album, and loathe Live Like We're Dying... even if I do leave it on on the radio out of loyalty), but even after hearing the snippet and seeing the cover I'm still so excited I could explode, so that's good. A Kylie song leaked last week or two weeks ago or something called Love Love Love which I also really, really like. Plus the crappiest possible quality of a long-unheard unused song for her 1994 album leaked and that sounded good too (her albums from the mid-90s are my least favorite, so this was a pleasant surprise.) I hope it leaks in good quality soon.

-I'm officially a Little Monster. I am a huuuuuuge Gaga fan. I'm so happy they chose Alejandro as the next single, I love it.

-Yesterday was my boyfriend's birthday. I took him to Chili's and gave him a copy of my favorite Kylie album (Light Years). Then we watched a British show I like that's on on Saturday nights that Kylie guest starred on in the 90s and I flailed about seeing her on US tv.

-I feel like there must be more to say, but there isn't. Oh! I got my Adam/Rays tickets in the mail and flailed. They're on the bulletin board rn. I can't wait for September.

-I still love my sims.

I'm thinking of prettying up my profile. I noticed all my new ontd_ai frienz (HAI) all have like, colorbars and stuff. And my fanciest thing is some bold text and a link to my neopets referral. Not sure what I'd include, tho. Probably... like everything I like. I already have my signature pic from my favorite Kylie forum (it's all ten of her studio albums, colored pink) that I could use. I could string together some of the ancient Beatles icons I made way back when I made this default. Same for Sailor Moon and HP. And the Rays. And possibly even my favorite sims (Anna is my special favorite, so you can see what she looks like.) And Lemony Snicket. Hmm. AND IDOL, of course. :D

Why do they always cut the hair so short on What Not To Wear? Not every single woman needs to have it so short. Long hair can be pretty and flattering, ffs. Short hair looks great but they never seem to give them good short cuts. Bleh.

I need to clean my bathroom, also. Will do soon.

THEY SIGNED MY FAVORITE PLAYER FOR ANOTHER YEAR. *happy dance*

In bad news, I need totally new glasses. New frames, new lenses, and an appointment for a new exam because there's no point in getting a new pair of glasses with an old prescription. Because we can afford that right now.

Boyfriend feels so guilty because I broke them in his house. He bought black tape so it would look slightly less crappy, and it kind of does (he's pretty crafty). From really far away if you're a moron it looks like they're supposed to have black triangles on the sides, so that's... cool, I guess. He tried so hard, I really appreciate it. <3 I DO feel less stupid.

Also, now I forget if there was anything else. BUT YAY BALFOUR, YAYYYYY FOR SIGNING FOR ANOTHER YEAR :D <333

BJ Upton just hit for the cycle! Why he's doing so well now (with three non-important games left of the season) instead of, you know, while they were still in it for the playoffs, I have no idea. But still.

And of course, Yankee fans booed. WTF. Let him have his moment. Longoria was proud.

The Rays lost horribly tonight, 10-1. Had I been watching it at home I would have changed the channel. I'm glad I got to see my heroes play live, and my binoculars were pretty awesome, but I'm sorry the stupid game sucked so badly. It was truly awful.

In other news, my father bought my mother a little GPS thingie yesterday and I've been playing with it ever since. It is the single most awesome piece of technology I've ever played with. It's my new toy. It's supposed to be my mother's, but she hasn't really had time to figure it out yet. It has a touch screen and is super smart and everything. I <3 it. We named it Maggie, because the brand is Magellan but it talks with a woman's voice. It has all kinds of information about any place in the whole US and like Mexico and crap that you'd want to go. So awesome.

I'm not even going to talk about how depressed I am about the stupid game. Maybe they'll win tomorrow. :(

KYLIE. The X album or the Light Years album. "Kylie" and "Enjoy Yourself" work sometimes too. Sometimes I get too silly-happy because they're cheesy 80s music.

Also, unrelatedly, Aki had his surgery today, and now they're saying he could be back in 6-8 weeks instead of next year. I was so worried I even set an alert on Hotmail. ALSO I'M GOING TO SEE THE RAYS TOMORROW YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! With my boyfriend and parents and yayyyyyyyyyyy so excited :)

Last year when we saw the Rays play Oakland, they gave us bingo cards (as they do at all home games). The grid has different things that happen in a baseball game, like a pitcher striking someone out, stealing a base, etc, and when each one happens in the game, you mark it off. If you get bingo, you bring it to a little table and some guy checks it out, and gives you a goodiebag. I actually won- first time in my life that I've ever won something like that- and they gave me a t-shirt (that I'm wearing now, actually), two keychains with... tiger heads? And the tigers are wearing safari hats? I think they're from Exxon? A pin for the Moffit cancer place (um... thanks), a refrigerator magnet with the season schedule (useful), and a squishy miniature baseball stressball thing with their logo on it. I think I'm forgetting something. Anyway, it was cool. We had to ask some people where to go, and on our way back everyone was all CONGRATULATIONS :D, the people at Tropicana Field are so nice.
We're seeing them play the Phillies (urg) in two weeks, I hope I win again. And I hope the Rays win, I've never seen them win. I saw them years and years ago playing the Mets and they lost (then again, we weren't rooting for them), and then both times last year they lost. Also, I hope the other fans aren't too obnoxious, they were terrible during the World Series and last year when I saw them play the Yankees those fans were obnoxious (also drunk) so I hope I don't have to deal with that again.

WHAT TIME OF YEAR IS IT KIDS?

IT'S EMO TIME!

Yeah, my emo is piling up again. It'll leave soon. Let's all paint black tear drops on our faces for a little bit until it passes. Aki's knee thing pushed me over the emo-edge. The good part about it is that it'll help in the writing department. See, I can't be really upset, otherwise my optimism would be broked.

Upon further reflection, none of this entry makes sense. That's okay. I'm kind of laughing right now, which is good, right? Right. My sense of humor is unaffected.

OH IT'S ALSO KYLIE'S BIRTHDAY HAPPY BIRTHDAY KYLIE ILU <33333

To the ESPN and Fox Sports commentators, and other folks, too:
1. Scott Kazmir's name is not pronounced like the sweater material. He is not a fabric.
2. Evan Longoria is a fantastic player, one of the best currently playing, and his little gaptooth smile is adorable, but there are other guys playing this game, as well. Try to remember their names. There aren't that many of them and they wear them on their backs.
3. At least try to be unbiased, okay? At least try not to be excited when something bad happens to my team. You never get as excited when they do something right.
4. Evan Longoria is not a desperate housewife. That joke's old. (The commentators leave this one alone, thank God.)
5. Yes, Balfour is a terrible name for a pitcher. But there's an Orioles pitcher named Walker. Make fun of him for awhile. (The commentators also leave this one alone as well.)
6. Stop calling them "Tampa". They're from Tampa Bay. St. Pete is getting jealous.
7. Sometimes you people talk way too much. STFU, no one cares that this one time in 1979 you played the game and some stuff happened. Seriously, no one cares. I think sometimes commentators go through the entire major leagues and play the game for years just so that one day they can sit in a booth and just hear their own voices for hours every day, doing commentary on the game.
8. ARGH ENOUGH WITH THE MANLY COMMERCIALS. "Just for Men" is fine, okay, whatever, but the ED pills and the can't-pee-properly pills are just ARGH.
9. Sorry, Tobacco Free Florida. I don't think the tobacco companies are trying to target children by flavoring their products "bubblegum, chocolate, or grape". Because I didn't know they did until you told me. Thanks for telling the kids now.
10. Men are gross. Stop spitting. Seriously, stop.
