I love that Zak Starkey is one of the top 10 search terms on yahoo right now.

For the sarvers among us, he's Ringo's son and is a drummer. And The Who played the halftime show last night, and Zak is their drummer, so I guess people are interested in him.

I don't know about the sound (it's live, hard to pick apart) but he seems to be nothing like his father. My mother says it's probably because he grew up in a time where drummers are expressive and crazy while in Ringo's time they just sat there tapping away smiling. Neither way is better than the other, of course. Just different.

It hurts my soul to say this, but James McCartney's (Paul's son) music isn't very good.

I'm sure a lot of people would disagree tho. I think he'll do reasonably well.

I'm thinking of prettying up my profile. I noticed all my new ontd_ai frienz (HAI) all have like, colorbars and stuff. And my fanciest thing is some bold text and a link to my neopets referral. Not sure what I'd include, tho. Probably... like everything I like. I already have my signature pic from my favorite Kylie forum (it's all ten of her studio albums, colored pink) that I could use. I could string together some of the ancient Beatles icons I made way back when I made this default. Same for Sailor Moon and HP. And the Rays. And possibly even my favorite sims (Anna is my special favorite, so you can see what she looks like.) And Lemony Snicket. Hmm. AND IDOL, of course. :D

Why do they always cut the hair so short on What Not To Wear? Not every single woman needs to have it so short. Long hair can be pretty and flattering, ffs. Short hair looks great but they never seem to give them good short cuts. Bleh.

I need to clean my bathroom, also. Will do soon.

I keep forgetting to mention, but this is pretty important. Paul featured on Ringo's new single. It made me cry, because I am a sap.

Had a weird urge to be electrician-y this morning (remember, my late night is your early morning, so for me doing this stuff at 5:45 in the morning is not weird) so I hooked up the old dvd player from the living room (when we got the HDTV we got a vhs-dvd-burning player so we can make dvds of our old home movies and stuff) in my bedroom so I could watch Help on dvd. I'd had another old dvd player in my room for years and years that hasn't worked since one day it went all wonky while I tried to watch a different Beatles dvd (The First US Visit, I think? Something like that) and hasn't been able to read any discs since. (I'd blame the dvd, but I tried it in different players and none of them spazzed, so... whatever). Finally hooked it up (mmm dust) and watched it. I love that movie so much. Every time I see it I forget how many funny bits it has. There's a lot of British humor but it's the funny kind, not the weird absurd "is that supposed to be the joke?" kind that I don't get because I'm weird like that, I guess.
Anyway, I love that movie and it made me happy. <3 Tonight I might watch A Hard Day's Night. I wish I had Yellow Submarine, but there's something stopping it from being released on dvd. IDK what but it makes me sad because I love that movie :(

"I Want To Hold Your Hand" - Beatles and probably Kylie's "In My Arms".

I've loved "Hand" since before I can remember, and I have distinct memories of hearing it in the car when I was teensy (and that car is, by the way, my beloved 1983 Crown Victoria). I have good memories associated with it, but besides that, it's just a catchy, fun little tune. Also Real Love always makes me happy, and so does... like everything they've done. You know me. I have no least favorite Beatles song.

In My Arms is the same kind of fun, catchy tune that for some reason makes me super happy no matter what. The same goes for her I Should Be So Lucky and Locomotion, and Tightrope, Paper Dolls, and a few others. I love almost everything she's done, but not EVERYTHING, so she isn't *always* guaranteed to make me happy (but like 90% of the time she is.)

RIP George :(

58 is too young to die, especially when you're cool and can better the world just by existing.

...that's not a great memorial, really, but I don't think he would have gone for anything sappier, so.

P.S. WHERE DID 8 YEARS GO?? (he died 8 years ago today.)

P.P.S. Megan Joy from AI season 8 released a song today and it is SO GOOD and so much better than she was on the show. OMG.

So guess where I went today!
The used record/book/cd/old crap store! Man, I love that place.

I searched fruitlessly through the LPs and found a hell of a lot of Liza Minnelli, but no Kylie Minogue.
HOWEVER
I searched through the 45s and BAM! All three of her most successful singles (in the US anyway) from the 80s. Mmmmm, vinyl. Whoever owned the Locomotion before I did apparently had a cat or a dog or something, because the cover also contained a few white hairs that aren't human (and one that I think was human because it had a split end) but I cleaned them all with alcohol when I got home to get the dust and other-people germs off so they can stay in nice condition. Actually, the sleeves are pretty worn out and a little faded and stained, but the vinyl itself is in perfect condition, all shiny and black and pretty and everything. I can see a few scratches, but they seem to be just surface scratches, I doubt they'll make it skip. Haven't gotten a chance to listen yet (and I'm a moron, because I keep forgetting they won't fit in the CD tray on my computer) but I'm expecting all three to sound just fine. I don't know if I'll bother listening more than once, since it's kind of annoying to use the record player and you have to keep switching sides and anyway I have the mp3s in what's likely better quality on my computer. But I just love having them, they're so pretty and I feel all special now because I own them.
So I got The Locomotion (whose B-side is I'll Still Be Loving You) (I used to like Locomotion when I was little, because Kylie is my destiny apparently)
I Should Be So Lucky (whose B-side is the instrumental for ISBSL) (and which is like, one of my very favoritest songs EVER, I get so stupid happy whenever it comes on, so this is pretty special to me)
and It's No Secret (whose B-side is Made In Heaven) (Also I LOVE LOVE LOVE Made In Heaven so WHOO FOR ME)
The condition could be a lot better and they probably aren't worth much more than the $1.50 I paid ($2.50 in total because I bought two other unrelated 45s) but I was happy. Fifty cents a piece to own my idol on lucious vinyl and FINALLY join the ranks of the esteemed Kylie fan elite? Too good to pass up. No new Beatles, because I don't know if you heard, but they aren't making music anymore. Trufax! (Also I think I own everything any of them ever put out and if I don't the record store probably doesn't have it, either.)

Then we went to Taco Bell and I won a free large Dr Pepper (vaild on my next visit) from a scratchcard. Today was good.

Except my throat hurts. I can still talk though. Still. GOOD DAY.

I FINALLY FOUND THE ORIGINAL PICTURE I USED TO MAKE THIS ICON WAY BACK BEFORE I HAD A LIVEJOURNAL LIKE SIX BILLION YEARS AGO (yeah, this icon is older than dirt). Shut up, this is totally important news.

In other news, I think I accidentally gave myself heat exhaustion/dehydration again. I r smrt.

Also this song makes me cry (I WILL REMEMBER YOU DANNII! COME HOST TV IN AMERICA I'D WATCH)

Unrelated also: I haven't listened to Real Love (the very top song on my very long list of favorite songs, which includes Disremembrance) in years, and I have the Regina Spektor version in my head, and I... I know some of you folks like her (I think?) so I'll refrain from getting all capslocky, but I really, really do not like this version. Really, really, really. REALLY (oops caps). Luckily Dannii's here to help. Also Kylie. Minogues ftw.

My parents and I went to Wal*Mart last night (I picked up some backup shampoo for when what I've got runs out) and we looked in the bin of discount books. We found a Beatles book (I think I already own all of the books worth owning- Mark Lewishon's two Beatles chronicles [every day in their lives and what they did on that day, one book featuring every day they ever recorded anything ever and another on what they did outside the recording booth], which I find myself studying every so often, The Beatles Anthology itself, the complete book of Beatles lyrics, George's autobiography where he published the original handwritten lyrics of all of his best songs and talked about them, and a few picture books) but this one looked really interesting, written by a man who went on the Beatles' two US tours with them as a broadcast journalist (the only one who toured with them) and so we bought it. I've been reading it and it's fascinating and very weird (he keeps talking about people getting broken limbs and head trauma at concerts, which is incomprehensible).
Last night when we got home I had one of those found-ten-bucks-in-your-jacket-pocket-from-last-winter moments, when I opened the book and found out it also contained a CD of 60 minutes of Beatles interviews.

So that was cool. (I read in Prevention magazine from some crazy sappy religious quasi-hippie lady that you should cherish these moments, so I am. Because you can always get sound medical advice from a magazine that tells you not to drink caffeine so you don't get high blood pressure on one page and then three pages later tells you to drink five cups a day, no exaggeration, if you don't want to get dementia. But it was a free subscription and this lady's column is on the back page so I don't think they expect you to listen to her anyway. Whatevs.)

Anyway, I've taught my parakeet how to shake hands (um... sort of, I put my finger near his foot and he grabs my finger with his foot and I move it up and down and then he bites my finger, but not hard) but my other parakeet is not interested in shaking hands (actually, I tell Mookie to shake paw, because I think it's cuter. Perhaps Rocco is simply insulted by my baby language, idk.)

Also, I've used a lot of parenthesis. So, time for bye byes now. Kbye.

Good news:
FLUWATCH 2009:
-Still not sick.
-Have baby migraine, though. Funnily enough darkness bothers my eyes more than the computer screen.

BEATLES:
-The Beatles version of that Rockband game comes out 09/09/09. Neat.
-Paul and Ringo will be playing TOGETHER at the SAME TIME on the SAME STAGE with some other folks at some sort of benefit concert for... teaching children of war how to meditate? Good idea in theory, but I bet they'd rather have, like, food or something.

Kylie Minogue:
-She's going to be in a Bollywood movie AND sing a song!

September:
-Currently recording new album while releasing singles off of her old one in hopes of getting ANOTHER US club hit (You may have heard the last one- "Cry For You", the one that goes "You'll never see me again, so now who's gonna cry for you?")
-Recently stated Kylie was her inspiration. I love it when my musical loves collide.

Birds:
-My birds (Mookie and Rocco) have been pretty crappy as pets since I got them, but today they let me feed them some celery. It was A Moment. I'm glad.

Rays:
-Been doing pretty well in Spring Training. Whoo!

My Novel:
-Still sucks :(

Interesting fact: Emmy Rossum pitched up by 10.290 percent is Kylie Minogue with Sophie Ellis-Bextor's RP accent. Accordingly, I've been pitching up Emmy Rossum's entire album. I'm on track 4 (but I did a few out of order). It sucks less.

(Why does Emmy Rossum have an RP accent if she's American?)

When I heard Emmy Rossum had made a pop record that tanked spectacularly I was intrigued, because I am shameless and I love bad pop. This... is not pop. This is weird pseudo-opera and every track sounds the same. They're all really good if you listen to them by themselves, but a whole album of her and her own voice in triplicate doing backup (it reminds me of what acapella groups do) is a bit much. She's more tolerable when I can pitch her up, turn the volume down, and pretend she's Kylie.

Also I just downloaded albums by Cilla Black and Mary Hopkin, two Beatles-associated women. Funny how my musical taste is going in circles. Those Beatles just keep pulling me back, and why would I resist?
